Background and Purpose

The Japanese Government has promoted the “Individual Number Card’s function expansion” as part of “Digital Society Realization Plan” over the years. TMN has conducted the Individual Number Card compatibility verification on UT-E20, forecasting that the Individual Number Card will be utilized for further services in the private sector. With the verification approval, TMN will sell the UT-E20 and develop new services according to customer demands and requests.

Since its launch in 2017, the UT-E20 has been adopted and used in automated parking pay stations, gas station self-pumps, vending machines and kiosk self-checkout terminals. Due to its multi-purpose functions, merchant customers such as distributors and retailers can adopt services that require Individual Number Card information such as age and identity verifications, leading to merchant convenience and further spread of Individual Number Card among the population.

What’s Next?

TMN believes that a further performance increase in electronic payment terminals will raise efficiency, increase user-friendliness, and resolve many other challenges. TMN will continue to pick up market trends, and societal needs to increase services not just in electronic payments, but also in cash payments and non-payment services to create a safe and healthy consumption environment.
